Get Morena Baccarin’s Golden Globe Makeup Look

Morena Baccarin looked so stunning at the Golden Globes. She reminds me of Isabella Rosselini. Such a classic beauty! I wanted to keep the makeup pretty and fresh to let her natural beauty shine through. Below I will list the products I used to create her makeup look.

*First, I applied a few drops of Global Face Serum to moisturize the face. This serum works great underneath makeup. It gives your skin an instant glow.

*Next, apply a liquid foundation. I used Vapour Organic Beauty Foundation and applied it my fingertips. Next, I applied concealer underneath the eyes to even out the skin-tone. I used Elysambre concealer.

*For the eyes I decided to keep it simple with a soft grey taupy eyeshadow that I applied across the lids and up to the crease. I used Zuzu Luxe Eyeshadow in Vixen.

*Next, I used a black eye pencil and drew it all the way from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eye. I used the same pencil to gently smudge it in the lower lash line.

*I curled her lashes and applied several coats of black mascara to both the upper and lower lashes. I used Tarte Cosmetics Clay Mascara. I also added a couple of individual false eyelashes to the outer corner of the eyes.

*I applied a soft pink creme blush to the apples of the cheeks using my fingertips. You can also use a foundation brush to apply it. I used Vapour Organic Beauty Multi-use Blush Classic in Spark.

*For Morena’s lips I opted for a berry pink lipstick. I had something very specific in mind so I mixed a couple different lipstick so get the right shade. I used Tarte Cosmetics Lipsurgence Lip Tint in Enchanted and I mixed it with Jane Iredale PureMoist Lip Color in Carrie.

Beauty Secret from Zimbabwe

Women in Zimbabwe have been using okra for centuries for a number of reasons. It is known to prevent cracks and wrinkles on your face. Okra has a very long history. It actually had its beginnings in Egypt where it is cultivated before the time of Cleopatra. The okra plant spread to many parts of the world and is now available most places.

Okra is known to protect you from getting pimples and will help you maintain smooth and beautiful skin.

Women in Zimbabwe apply boiled and mashed okra to their face and leave on their skin for about 20 minutes. Then, they wash off with lukewarm water.

Makeup Look for New Years Eve

New years eve is a great time to experiment with different makeup looks. One of my favorite party makeup looks is the smoky eye. Adding a little metallic shadow to your eye makeup takes eyes from smoky to smoldering. Follow my steps for a sexy eye makeup look that will make your eyes pop!

*Start out by applying a cream concealer to your eyelid to create a smooth and even base for your shadow.

*Use a pencil liner (black, brown, grey, plum or navy are great shades) and trace your top lash line from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eye. Use the same eye pencil to line the inside rim of your eye as well as the lower lash line. Smudge both lines using either a q-tip or your fingertip.

*Sweep a powder shadow (any darker shade you desire) over your lid and into your crease. Blend the color up and outward. Use the same shadow and gently smudge it into your lower lash line.

*Dust a metallic shimmer shadow (in the same shade range as your eyeshadow) on your eyelids and over the brow bone. Use the same metallic shimmer on the inside corner of the eye.

*Curl your lashes, apply several coats of black mascara and add a few individual false lashes to the outer corner of the lash line.

Makeup Tips for Older Women

There are some makeup tricks that you can use to make yourself look younger. There’s nothing worse than seeing a beautiful older woman with either too much makeup or the wrong shade of color. Below I will list a few different makeup tricks for older women.

*As we get older, our lips thin. Avoid dark lipstick, it will only bring attention to the lips even more.  Instead, use lipstick shades closest to your natural lip color. Rose and pink shades are more flattering than for example orange.

*Dab some lipgloss in the middle of your lips. It will make your lips appear plumper. You can also use a colored lipgloss instead of a lipstick.

*Make you eyes the center of attention with a shade that isn’t too dark. Golds, browns, light grey, and taupe eyeshadow shades are great as they aren’t as harsh looking as black.

*Less is more. Avoid heavy foundations or powders. Opt for tinted moisturizers, and  cream blushes.

*Avoid drawing in your eyebrows. It gives you such a harsh look and it doesn’t look natural. Instead, slightly tint the using a brow gel or brow powder. It should be the same shade as your natural brow color.

Health Benefits of Cranberries

Cranberries are a staple condiment in most holiday meals. But, a part from being a sweet and delicious treat, it is also great for your skin and overall health. Cranberries are indigenous to North America, and long before the Pilgrims arrived, Native Americans used it for a number of reasons, for example, to draw poison from arrow wounds.

Cranberries are very high in antioxidants, omega fatty acids and help condition your skin, as well as improving collagen and elastin fibers in the skin. It has also been proven to be successful in the treatment of psoriasis as well as eczema. Below, find some more wonderful health benefits to this miracle berry.

* The flavanoids in the cranberry repairs nervous cells that help improve night vision and prevent glaucoma and cataracts.

* Perhaps the most common benefit to cranberry juice is its ability to prevent urinary track infections.

* Cranberries can improve your blood circulation as well as various heart problems.

This holiday is a perfect time to incorporate cranberries into your life. A glass of natural cranberry juice, applying cranberry oil to your skin, and taking cranberry supplements will not only improve your overall health but leave your skin moisturized and soft throughout the winter months.

Help Empower Girls

For girls living in impoverished countries, the tools they need to keep healthy and clean has become an ordeal. They are, for example, forced to dig through trash heaps, cut tattered mattress bits or tear clothes into rags to create sanitary protection for their monthly period.

From Kenya to Bangladesh, girls living in poverty who can’t afford sanitary protection face health and education risks. There’s potential for infection from using scraps, and often times the sanitary napkins leak. Out of sheer embarrassment, girls just stay home from school.

According to UNICEF, one in ten African girls either skin school during this time of the month or drop out completely. As a result, their future is at risk.

Huru, which means “freedom” in Swahili, launched a program in 2008, and has provided over 20,000 free kits to girls around the world. Each kit is packaged in a drawstring bag that doubles as a backpack and includes reusable sanitary naps, soap, educational materials and anything else they may need.

The pads are made of 100 percent locally-sourced cotton. The organization also provides jobs to local residents, setting up manufacturing outposts to create the kits. The kits cost $25 to create and transport, and supply pads for more than a year and a half.
